11-Year Old Beekeeper

Pollinators are essential to any farming operation, but bee populations and other beneficial insects are depleted as a result of a variety of factors. The Two Blocks Away Farm (a family farm located outside Columbus, Ohio) realized that there were virtually no bees on their property. To provide feed their animals they needed bees to pollinate the local wildflowers. They put the word out to local bee keepers that they would make a portion of their land available for them to keep their hives. Mike, a local bee hobbyist, answered the call and placed his hives on the farm. Sully became fascinated by bees and now has his own hives on his family farm. He is now an expert bee handler and also educates local kids about the importance of bees to create healthy ecosystems.
